John has accrued over 10 years of experience across various camera department roles and worked with many of the larger production companies in the UK today. Proficient with all 35mm adapters, and the wave of DSLRs, John has shot with most digital video camera's from Z1's up to the Alexa. He has shot at home and abroad, underwater, from helicopters, up snowy mountains and at sea. In recent years John has been DoP on 4 indie-budget features and camera op on various shorts, music videos and corporates. Recent broadcast work has him operating as 2nd camera and developing a specialism in minicam rigging/operating. He is also proficient in steadicam operation, predominantly with lighter weight camera’s from DSLRs up to stripped-down RED weight.
Off-set John has tutored many clients on various camera models and associated digital file management and is regularly employed to design and build camera grip solutions; his most recent project being a motion control slider rig for timelapse and live use.
