Capable of shooting the same high quality Hi Def pictures either in 50i for the European audience or 60i for the USA and Japan. The camera is aimed at the majority of European TV productions where the 25P, film look, is not required and budget is a consideration. The biggest surprise is not the high quality, seamless workflow or exciting creative options … it’s the cost. At the cost of hire as Digital Betacam and downward compatible (via the option board HKDW-702 or J-H3 player) to SD, we do wonder how long before our Digital Betacam cameras are no more then museum pieces. These cameras are ideal for Sports, documentaries, dramas and most mainstream TV programmes that are not aimed at the 25P market.
